Surveying Company founded by Gary A. Sheffler, Sr., PLS near Greater Pittsburgh International Airport. Gary built his first office adjoining his mother’s home. Primary work in the 70’s consisted of municipal sewer & water projects.

Began providing full service civil engineering support to private land development clientele. Gary, Sr. started land development company and provided heavy highway construction & pipeline services.

Company expanded services to include Traffic & Transportation and Environmental Services. Performed only private land development work. Staff of 10-15 employees (Professional Engineers, Surveyors & Landscape Architects).

Gary Sr. transitioned ownership of the company to his son, Gary Jr. (Bud), who had joined his father’s company in 1992, and his wife, Cristina.  Today, Cristina serves as President of the company and Bud is the Principal in Charge of Engineering and Surveying.  Gary Sr. continues to work for Sheffler & Company, Inc. contributing his expertise daily.

Began oil & gas energy work and made the decision to merge Sheffler & Company with another area engineering & surveying firm which grew the firm by acquisition to include brownfield environmental, hydrogeologic, structural & architectural services and 170 employees with offices in PA, ND, WV, OH, NY & TX.

Sheffler & Company decided to return to its roots and core business values with an increased focus on our clients’ needs. With 22 staff members following, we were once again Sheffler & Company, Inc. with licensed civil engineers & surveyors primarily serving the tri-state area of Pennsylvania, West Virginia & Ohio from our new office location in Sewickley, PA.

In 2017, Sheffler & Company, Inc. proudly became certified as a Women’s Business Enterprise opening our world up to a host of business opportunities.

In January of 2020, a small family owned and run surveying business, Sperdute Surveying, added their 35 years of expertise to the Sheffler & Company team. This acquisition has joined two of Pittsburgh’s leaders in Professional Land Surveying. The Sperdute name will continue to be recognized now as a division of Sheffler & Company, Inc.

Following our constant desire to offer our clients the newest and best technologies, Sheffler & Company, Inc. expanded their services once again to include Geospatial and GIS Services.  A new Geospatial surveyor was hired, and new equipment and computer software was purchased.  This greatly enhanced our capabilities as well as the final product(s) we can deliver to our clients.

Sheffler & Company, Inc. will continue to grow and is always looking for new ways to offer our clients the best services while still maintaining our personal connection with them.  We will continue to educate ourselves and look at new opportunities for growth, both organic and acquired, if it makes sense for us and our clients, and we are always looking to add more amazing people to our already amazing and valuable staff of 40.
